Iron Infusions / Drip - Leicester
Available across the UK, Leicester & the Midlands – Doctor-led, Fast, and Safe

Feeling tired, dizzy or constantly low on energy? Iron deficiency could be the reason. At Leicester Holistic GP / Ozone Clinic, we offer high-quality intravenous iron infusions using Ferinject® (Ferric Carboxymaltose) – a modern, fast-acting iron solution prescribed by doctors and infused in a safe, professional environment.

Ingredients
Ferric Carboxymaltose (prescription only medicine) i.v. in sterile 0.9% sodium chloride solution.

The Process
A blood test is needed to confirm iron deficiency anaemia and calculate your required dose. You can provide recent NHS results, arrange your own tests, or we can do them for an additional cost.

Side Effects
Iron infusions are generally considered safe, but as with any medical treatment, there are potential risks and side effects. Some people may experience:
-
Minor side effects, such as headaches, dizziness, nausea, flushing or muscle cramps. These symptoms are usually temporary and resolve quickly when the infusion is discounted then restarted.
-
A metallic taste in your mouth: This normally disappears within 15 minutes of you having the infusion.
-
Leakage of iron at the administration site (i.e around the cannula) may lead to potentially long lasting brown discolouration at the site of administration.
-
Allergic reactions: These are rare but can occur especially with the older iron formulations which we do not use.
-
Pregnancy: Despite its safety in pregnancy, atLeicester Ozone Clinic we have taken a precautionary approach of not giving iron infusion in the first 3 months of pregnancy.

Will I Get Better?
If your symptoms are due only to iron deficiency, there is a high chance of improvement. However, other underlying deficiencies may be present that have not been tested for. Our role is to ensure the infusion is safe for you, but a consultation helps provide a more complete assessment of your needs. If you choose to proceed without one, the outcome may vary depending on other factors.
